The UVU Competitive Climbing Team is for intermediate to advanced climbers who want to compete in USA Climbing collegiate events. We train together, travel to competitions, and push each other to be our best.
Dues & Membership
To be part of the competitive team, you'll need:
- Team Dues: $150 per semester (covers team expenses, training, and team gear)
- USA Climbing Membership: $65 annually (required for all competitors)
- Rec Team Membership: Comp team members must also join the rec team ($50/year)
Note: We work to reimburse costs through sponsorships and fundraising efforts.
Training
Comp team members have access to:
- Weekly Practices: Structured training sessions multiple times per week
- Skill Clinics: Exclusive workshops on technique, strength, and mental training
- Training Camps: Intensive semester camps for competition preparation
- Coaching: Guidance from experienced climbers and coaches
Competition Schedule
The collegiate climbing season runs from fall through spring:
- Qualifying Events (Oct–Mar): Regional competitions to earn points and qualify for nationals
- Collegiate Nationals Qualifiers (Mar–Apr): Final qualifying events before nationals
- USA Climbing Collegiate Nationals (May): The national championship event

Requirements
To join the competitive team, you should:
- Be a currently enrolled UVU student
- Have intermediate to advanced climbing experience
- Be committed to attending weekly practices
- Be willing to travel for competitions
- Complete tryouts (held at the beginning of each semester)
