Comp Team: For serious climbers who want to compete at USA Climbing collegiate events. Requires consistent practice attendance, tryouts, and travel for competitions.

Costs & Dues

Rec Team: $50 per year

Comp Team: $150 per semester + $65 USA Climbing membership (annual) + Rec team membership ($50/year)

The gym discount savings usually cover the cost of rec team membership within 1-2 months.

Rec Team dues cover: Access to weekly practices, outdoor trips, team events, and gym discount partnerships.

Comp Team dues cover: Everything in rec team plus competition entry fees (partial), travel coordination, training camps, skill clinics, and team gear.

We work to offset costs through sponsorships and fundraising. If cost is a barrier, please reach out to us at [email protected] – we want climbing to be accessible to everyone.

Practices & Events

Rec Team: Wednesdays, 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM at our partner gym (details provided upon signup).

Comp Team: Multiple sessions per week. Schedule provided to team members.

Check our calendar for the full schedule.

Rec Team: No, attendance is flexible. Come when you can!

Comp Team: Regular attendance is expected. We understand school and work come first, but consistent training is important for competition readiness.

We organize both day trips (monthly) to local areas within an hour of campus, and longer trips during school breaks to destinations like Joe's Valley, Moe's Valley, Red Rocks, and more. Transportation is coordinated via carpooling, and housing is arranged for overnight trips.

Competitions

Comp team tryouts are held at the beginning of each semester. They typically involve a climbing assessment and may include interviews. Watch our Instagram and check the calendar for tryout announcements.

We compete in USA Climbing Collegiate Series events, including regional qualifiers (October–March), nationals qualifiers (March–April), and the Collegiate National Championships (May). We aim to attend as many events as possible based on budget and team interest.

You'll need climbing shoes. Harnesses and other gear are provided at competition venues for the events. For outdoor trips, we can help coordinate gear sharing and rentals.
