Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be an experienced climber?
No! While competition experience is helpful, we welcome climbers of all levels. What matters most is your passion for climbing, willingness to learn, and commitment to the team.
How often does the team train?
We typically train 3-4 times per week at local climbing gyms. Training schedules are flexible to accommodate class schedules and other commitments.
Are there tryouts?
We hold informal tryouts/meet-and-greets at the beginning of each semester. This is a chance for you to meet the team and for us to see your climbing style and enthusiasm!
Do I have to compete?
Competing in USA Climbing events is a major part of our team, but we understand schedules and budgets vary. We encourage all team members to compete when possible, but it's not strictly required.
What are the costs?
Team membership is free! However, climbers are responsible for gym memberships, competition entry fees, and travel costs. We fundraise throughout the year to help offset these expenses.
When can I apply?
We accept applications year-round! The best time to join is at the beginning of Fall or Spring semester, but you can reach out anytime at [email protected].
